Three-Day Eventing

Stephen Bradley discovered the thrill of jumping at age 13 in Virginia hunt country and, soon thereafter, started participating in the local pony club. He decided to make a career of competitive eventing during college and started competing internationally in 1989.

Bradley won the Checkmate International CCI*** three years in a row in 1991, 1992 and 1993. In 1992, he also represented the United States at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, placing 10th in team competiton. In 1993, Bradley became the second American in history to win Great Britain’s prestigious Burghley CCI****, following in the footsteps of his mentor, Bruce Davidson, and he was named Equestrian Athlete of the Year by the U.S. Olympic Committee. In 1996, Bradley won the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.

In 2003, Bradley was a member of the gold-medal winning U.S. team at the Pan-American Championships. In 2004, he placed fifth at the Rolex CCI**** and was short-listed for that year’s Olympics. In 2005, he won the Foxhall Cup CCI*** and the USET's Spring Three Star Championship and placed fourth in the advanced division at the American Eventing Championships. In 2006, Bradley placed third at the Rolex Kentucky three-day-event.

Bradley lives in his hometown of Leesburg, Va., where he runs his own training facility and teaches lessons. He continues to train and compete.
