Sergio Campos

Sergio Campos

Sergio Campos has dreamed of winning gold at the Olympics since he was 5. He has had a few setbacks along the way, but that dream has kept him motivated and driven.

In 1997, after winning the All American Young Rider Championship, he lost his stallion, MM Primo. And, a few years later his horse Coyote Ugly knocked him out of the game again. He then chose to ride bulls and broncos in the Brazilian rodeo for four years before returning to the show ring. He is learning the American style of riding, working with George Morris and Aaron Vale.

Campos operates Florida’s Longwood Equestrian Center. Among his students are Melissa Rudershausen who recently won the AO Jumpers at Garden State and Dianna Rodolpho and Marianna Savage who were first and second in the big AO class in Atlanta. Another student, Rae Kennedy, owns both Zizou and Onno Z, is training and competing in Europe.

Sergio himself owns Shakira do Jacare, a 10-year old mare. Shakira do Jacare has won nearly 10 grand prixs or welcomes stakes since fall of 2006. Sergio also owns a 9-year old gelding; Cognac Do Jacare that he feels is Olympic quality. He believes that between the two horses, he'll make his dream of the Olympics.

After nine years in the U.S, and now established as a successful trainer and competitor, Sergio has begun the process of apply for dual citizenship to reach another dream -- joining the American team.
