Robert Costello

Robert Costello
Three-Day Eventer and Clinician

Robert Costello is probably best known for his success at the Sydney Olympic Games where he and longtime partner Chevalier placed eighth in the individual competition. The pair went on to represent the U.S. again the following year at the Burghley CCI****, finishing in the top 20. More recently, he represented the U.S. at the 2003 Pan American Championships, this time riding his big grey, Dalliance, as part of the gold medal winning team. Costello continues to have horses running at just about every level and in 2005 placed sixth at the Fair Hill CCI*** with Wild Delight.

Although a very busy teacher and trainer, he still finds time to give back to the sport in a volunteer capacity. He has served as a member of the USEA Board of Governors as well as member of the USEA Rules Committee and Competitions Committee. He has also served on the USET Board of Trustees and as a member of the USEF High Performance Committee, U.S. Equestrian Federation Eventing Committee and USEF Active Competitors’ Committee. Costello resides and trains at Leila Clay’s Tanglewood Farm in Southern Pines, N.C.
