R.E. Josey

R.E. Josey
Calf Roper

R.E. Josey, married to world-famous barrel racer and Purina Influential, Martha Josey, has his own list of credentials to make him a logical choice to join our prestigious group.

Josey is a three-time American Quarter Horse Association World Champion calf roper, and each championship was won riding a different horse. This alone proves his amazing skill in training winning horses. Josey also has an impressive record of rodeo calf roping wins and has put hundreds of points on AQHA horses for himself and owners across the country. He was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 1998.

The Joseys share more than a love of rodeo. They also enthusiastically teach what they have learned during long and successful careers in the competitive world. At their World Class Calf Roping, Barrel Racing and Horsemanship Schools and Clinics, this talented team teach everything from proper equipment selection and fit, to making the winning run or throwing the perfect loop. The Joseys have been featured demonstrators and clinicians at such national equine events as the Kansas Equifest, Equitana USA, The Equine Affaire, Ride With The Stars and the All American Quarter Horse Congress. The ''Josey Magic'' is not only found in their quality equipment and horsemanship, but also in their unique ability to inspire and motivate everyone around them. R.E. Josey has often said, "When our students win, we win!"

Josey has produced a video series designed to take calf ropers back to the basics and, with his wife, a series that shares their combined World Championship knowledge and experience. Every year, the Joseys host the Josey Reunion Roundup, a barrel racing and calf roping competition open to all former Josey students – all 40,000 of them! Their annual Josey Jr. World Championship Barrel Race is the largest and richest barrel racing competition in the world for youth ages 20 and under. Whatever Josey has taken in rodeo purse money and glory over the years, he has certainly given back far more. He's a genuine Purina Influential.
