Kory is a native of Lubbock, TX, where his parents, Doug and Patsy, raised cotton and ran a few cows. Pounds rode bulls and was involved in the rodeo and cattle-hauling business. Kory went to work for legendary cutting horse trainer, Buster Welch in 1995 and stayed for 4 years until going to work for Gary Bellenfant and later went out on his own in 1999. Kory has had numerous finalists and APHA champions in his short career.

Kory currently resides in Millsap, TX.
