Darren M. Chiacchia

Darren M. Chiacchia
Three-Day Eventer and Clinician

Darren M. Chiacchia has been competing in equestrian events for over 25 years. His perseverance, insight and pure determination have transformed him into one of the most formidable competitors internationally in the Three Day Event.

His early training came from world leaders in the dressage and jumping arenas. When not competing, Chiacchia continues to train "outside his sport" with noted experts. He rides between four and 10 hours each day and competes nearly every weekend.

Working out of Independence Farm in Ocala, Fla. and Springville, N.Y. where he also operates a breeding, training and sales business, Chiacchia takes on young and transitional horses and trains them into some of the most notable Three Day Event horses.

Competing in the Olympics was his dream since he was 14 years old and in 2004 his dream came true. Chiacchia was a member of the U.S. bronze-medal team at the Athens Olympics, finishing 12th individually. That year he also won the modified division at Rolex Kentucky.

In 2006, Chiacchia was ranked fifth in the United States and his horse, Windfall II, was ranked first.
